Repositioning sociocultural safety and security in shaping disabled-friendly urban spaces

Sociocultural aspects are very critical in the daily life activities of people, including for disabled, as their mobility limitation quite often cause a handicap dependency. Disabled-friendly environment design becomes essential needs behaviour and activities. This paper aims to investigate how sociocultural guarantee disabled's safety security urban public spaces Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It searches conceptual framework do disabled consume areas, whether ICT (Information Communication Technology) sufficiently support better solution environment. The methods collecting data used setting, observation physical environment, interviews with interrelated actors disabled-friendly test results. preliminary findings show that use psychologically represents power techno-socio-cultural network among society is significant matter solution.
